Cynthia E Monroe, daughter of The Rev.Harold T and Hester A (Null) Shay, was born in Wyoming, however was raised in Alliance, Nebraska. She and her husband, Norman, have four daughters, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

I have been involved in family history research since 1977. I am a member of the Episcopal Church, was the Diocese of Nebraska Historiographer and assists various Episcopal parishes in microfilming their records, the Nebraska State Historical Society (having served as president at one time), the State Genealogy Society past president of the Lincoln-Lancaster County Genealogy Society, and several other genealogy and historical societies and has served as Sheriff of the Lincoln Westerner's, president and secretary-treasurer of the International Livestock Identification Association. Cynthia was the livestock brand recorder for 30 years and now works as an administrative assistant for a Nebraska State Senator.

She gives genealogy workshops, co-teaching a genealogy class at the location community college and has a small family history research business and with Norman finds homes for several misplaced tombstones. We have a daughter and two grandchildren with hereditary illnesses that we have worked on their genetic histories.
